| Q: | When the Dex file is read from the vending machine to the Palm computer, is it possible to send the Dex file to another PC and work with the vend data in another accounting system? |
|---|---|
| A: | The Palm handheld stores the Dex information in ASCII text files. It is formatted just as it looks on the "Show Dex File" screen in VendoPro. When a Palm undergoes the "Hot Sync" process with a PC, the Dex information file is copied over. The file's name is Dex-VPRO.PDB. You can search for this file name. The system path it is located at is dependent on the registered name for your Palm. The path is "C:\Palm\[Registered Name]\Backup". This file is best opened up with a text document editor such as Microsoft's Word. |
| Q: | What do the choices on the option screen in VendoPro™ mean? |
| A: | Note: Enable = On; Disable = Off Multi-Price: When Multi-Price is enabled, the controller will allow one or more prices to be programmed on the machine. When Multi-Price is disabled, the entire machine will be the same as selection button #1. Optional Features: If the Optional Features are enabled, the controller will allow access to additional options on the machine. If the Optional Features are disabled, the controller will deny access to the additional options of the machine. Summary Data Display: If Summary Data Display is enabled, the LED will display historical vend data when the outer door is opened. If Summary Data Display is disabled, the LED will not show the historical vend data when the outer door is opened. Force Vend or Force Select: If Force Vend or Force Select is enabled, the machine will give change if no selection is made by pressing the coin return lever. If Force Vend or Force Select is disabled, a selection must be attempted before change can be given. Multi-Vend: If Multi-Vend is enabled, the operator may make subsequent vends (if sufficient credit is available) with the initial amount of credit established. If Multi-Vend is disabled, credit will be returned to the operator once a vend has been initiated. Change Machine: If Change Machine is enabled, the operator may deposit a bill into the dollar bill validator, press the coin return lever and receive change. If Change Machine is disabled, the operator must attempt a vend in order to receive change. Single Price: If Single Price is enabled, the entire machine will be the same as selection button #1. If Single Price is disabled, the controller will allow one or more prices to be programmed on the machine. Correct Change Light: If Correct Change Light is enabled, the correct change light will illuminate when the coin tubes in the coin changer fall below the lower limits. If Correct Change Light is disabled, the correct change light will never illuminate. Sold Out Indicator: If Sold Out Indicator is enabled, a square will appear in the left hand corner of the LED when at least one column is sold out. If Sold Out Indicator is disabled, there will be no indicator in the LED of a sold out column. Save Credit: If Save Credit is enabled, the controller will save established or remaining credit (in multi-vend conditions) for five minutes. If Save Credit is disabled, the controller will save established or remaining credit indefinitely. Bill Escrow: If Bill Escrow is enabled, the dollar bill validator will not stack the dollar bill. If Bill Escrow is disabled, the dollar bill validator will always stack the dollar bill. POS Display: If POS Display is enabled, the display will scroll "Ice Cold Coca-Cola" and then the vend price. If POS Display is disabled, the display will only read the vend price. Door Switch Reset: If Door Switch Reset is enabled, the MIS field data will reset when you view the historical readings and actuate the door switch. If Door Switch Reset is disabled, the MIS field data will not reset by actuating the door switch. Count by Price: If Count by Price is enabled, the sales data displayed will appear by price. If Count by Price is disabled, the sales data displayed will be by unit sales per selection. Neutral: The first bill is held in escrow. For high level interface (where bill escrow is not possible) this selection will allow escrow return via coins. Allow Overpay: It enables the coin mechanism and the vending machine controller to accept money even though it cannot make change after a vend. |
